The New Testament defines the local Christian church as a body of believers, brought together by the Lord Jesus, who live and relate together as a loving community. Believers are individual men and women, boys and girls who have availed themselves freely of Jesus’ promise by putting their faith in Him for salvation. We believe that each disciple should also be baptised in water and in the Holy Spirit. Believers are called together into a local church to live out their lives as disciples, fully determined in faith to grow up into Christ, who is our Head.
In Larne Christian Fellowship we believe that Jesus’ promise to build His church has radical implications for what we believe, pray, teach and do. He has promised to live in our hearts by faith; He is the baptiser into the Holy Spirit, who will sanctify, heal, guide and empower every individual who is submitted to Him. It is Jesus who plants in our hearts His love for others, as we abide in Him. This love guides and motivates us in our individual services to the body of Christ and to our local community. As we pray and receive God’s strength and grace to walk uprightly before God, we show forth and communicate the gospel of Jesus by playing our part in His body. In this way the local church upbuilds itself in God’s love.
We also believe that a local church is a part of God’s kingdom, and of the universal Christian church. Therefore, LCF must humbly seek to extend God’s kingdom and function effectively as a part of the local and global work of Jesus Christ. Training in Discipleship and Ministry: An Equipped Family - The vision of Larne Christian Fellowship is to pray in, recognise and invite the 5-fold Ascension ministry gifts of Ephesians 4:11 to equip the saints for our callings and works of service and thereby play our part in the expansion of the kingdom of God. Training of individuals, groups and the entire church (or even churches) will take place by inviting recognised ministers with proven callings to run training sessions or conferences. Materials, written and/or on-line, will also be produced for internal purposes and for dissemination to other churches and nations.
Church Planting: A Multiplying Family - Our vision is to be part of a move of God that will see New Testament churches established wherever the Lord opens doors of opportunities. As the Lord guides us, we will have fraternal links with other churches to enable effective expansion of the kingdom of God. As an active member of Barnabas Fellowship of Churches (BFoC) we participate in church-planting in other countries.
Missions: A World Changing Family - As a local church we are called to support missions work by prayer, giving and going. Pastor Brian oversees the work of BFoC in five nations, and he, and they, deeply appreciate the prayer and financial support given freely by LCF to many of these works.
